Thanking Biokovo, a mountain massive with 30 peaks higher than 1,500 meters, Makarska has several ideal destinations and spots for paragliding, one of the most attractive extreme sports, that occupies the attention of more and more sportsmen. On the other hand, several football fields in Makarska Riviera, as well as the flat surfaces by the sea provide a lot of safe spots for paraglider's successful landing. During the winter season, because of the nearby sea, which is warmer than the air, and radiates the heat, thermo-zones are formed, that contain warm air, and which fly to the upper atmosphere layers, and this finally produces an uphill force.
